Used or New Clothing
Butterfield Youth Services operates the Village Cellar as a retail outlet in downtown Marshall. It primarily sells used clothing, but some new clothing is also donated and sold. The Village Cellar is always often the first place where clothes are sought for the children at the Butterfield Ranches. The store is also a source of income as the clothes are also sold to the general public. Of special value are collectables and unique gift items that benefit by BYS auction sales.
The Butterfield Village Cellar is located on the west side of Marshall's historic courthouse square. As a resale shop, it offers low-cost clothing and household items to the general public and is a source of clothing for the youth at the Butterfield ranches. The Cellar also provides for clothing assistance to families on a referral basis from the Missouri Division of Family Services (public welfare agency), the Red Cross, Ministerial Alliance, and other social service agencies.
The Cellar is open Tuesday through Saturday for both sales and donations. All of the merchandise is contributed by individual families and business. Most of the clothing is sold, but even the worn out items can be sold for rags. This is a good example of 100% recycling.
Butterfield Youth Services benefits from the Cellar in several ways. It is an excellent source of clothing for our children, and Butterfield is proud to provide the shop as a community service. The Cellar is also an "earn and learn" site for several of our youth. They are employed part-time on Saturdays or after school with the dual purpose of earning some money and learning some excellent job habits.
Cleaning out your closets? Looking for a real old-fashioned bargain? Visit Butterfield's Village Cellar and help our youth.
