Area School Districts

School Districts in Saline and adjacent counties in Missouri may contract with Butterfield Youth Services for necessary student Alternative School placements. BYS is certified as a 'Contracting Educational Organization' by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Schools. By that authority, students with the following disabilities and ages may be served by BYS for contracting local school districts:

• Emotional Disturbance ---- Ages 8-18
• Specific Learning Disabilities ---- Ages 8-18
• Mental Retardation ---- Ages 8-18
• Other Health Impairments ---- Ages 8-18

Under the contract for a student's Alternative School service at BYS, the placing district will pay a set fee for the student's daily attendance at BYS School. The student's enrollment will remain with the placing district. Accordingly, state 'minimum guarantee' and other Missouri education-formula funding remains payable to the placing school district where the child remains enrolled. BYS School provides all attendance records and educational performance accountings directly to the student's placing school, and BYS personnel plans directly with the student's placing school for his/her eventual return attendance there.
