Historical Figure Reenactment

On April 30, 2004 the BYS Social Studies class sponsored a school-wide Historical Wax Museum event in the school gymnaseum. For about two weeks leading to the activity, interested student each selected an historic personality to represent in dress and posture.

On the day of the event, the entrees presented themselves dressed and posing as if they were statues, come to life, of their chosen historical figures. In all over 50 presentors took part. Both Lewis and Clark were there, as were Marie Antoinette, Florence Nightingale, Paul Bunyan,  Pablo Picasso, and many more. Other students served as interviewers with prepared questions for the performers, for class articles they would later write. Out of countless hours of advance preparation, and a great day of entertainnent, surely learning has never been so much fun!
