The BYS School outdoor garden receives a gift of plants.

Donor Supports BYS Schoool Garden

An important theme each spring is planting and upkeep of our Outdoor Classroom. That began in 2001 when Rhonda Boyer, our Program Enrichment Coordinator, began exploring the possibility of turning a courtyard into a garden of annuals, perennials and herbs.

No more was word out on the garden project, Anne, a donor friend, began delivering van loads of flowers, shrubbery, and vegetable plantings! A local green house and nursery then got in on the act, and delivered still more stock. Three years later, Ann is still loyally supplying nursery stock from her greenhouse each spring. Pictured here, Ann and BYS director John Carton unload a box of plants.

All of the planting work is accomplished by the children and their classroom personnel, for a wonderful and continuously renewed learning experience.
